SAFFIRE TURNS TEN
We’ve been celebrating our 10th birthday here at Saffire Freycinet, and recently opened our doors to our local community for a special day to treat them to a Saffire experience.
We showed over 80 guests around the property before taking them out on a surprise nature-based experience; a wilderness cruise, a beekeeping experience, or a visit in waders to the marine farm. An indulgent lunch was then prepared by our chefs to celebrate our local suppliers, and local winemakers Craigie Knowe and Gala Estate setup in the lounge to share their finest wines with all.
Everyone was also introduced to our resident Tasmanian devils by our team of passionate devil keepers. Tickets to the day were a 100% donation to Wildcare’s Tasmanian Devil fund, which we were thrilled to learn tipped us over $150,000 donated by Saffire and its guests for the cause over its 5 year partnership. This has funded a Hobart-based conservation vet at the Menzies Institute of Medical research to investigate the devil population’s transmissible cancer, and rehabilitate healthy devils back into the wild.
We’ve even seen some wild devils around our property lately, which has been an incredible outcome of the project!
As we turn ten, we reflect on the perfect synergy it takes to create such a unique and iconic experience. Our guides, our producers, winemakers and oyster farmers are the ones creating the magic every day. Their dedication to creating meaningful experiences for our guests results in powerful connections to place, and memories that last a lifetime. We can’t thank them enough.
We pass on our deepest gratitude to everyone who’s played a part in the dream of Saffire Freycinet, and we hope you can visit us soon to celebrate this milestone with us.
