Waubs Harbour Distillery Tour
Tour Waubs Harbour Distillery, the world class maritime Tasmanian single malt whisky distillery set on the edge of the ocean in Bicheno. Be taken behind the scenes at Waubs Harbour, guided through the whisky production process, sampling local ingredients throughout the experience. Guests will also taste a range of Waubs Harbour whiskies from both their current range and also from the founder’s personal collection, in Waubs Harbour’s new ocean-view tasting room, complemented by a platter of fresh, local produce.
Beekeeping Experience
Experience the wonder of Tasmanian nature at its most raw, captivating, and sweet. Tasmanian honey production is on the rise, with some local apiaries drawing international attention for their sweet, decadent, and golden produce. This honey forms part of the unforgettable culinary encounter here at Saffire and how guests can learn the secrets behind the sweetness in our Beekeeping Experience. Wear a full-body apiarist suit and venture into an onsite Saffire apiary with hives. With the safety and guidance of Saffire Horticulturalist, Rob ‘The Bee Man’ Barker, guests will extract honeycomb to witness the breathtaking natural phenomenon of honey making by Tasmanian bees. The Tasmanian Devil Experience
Participate in the quest to save this endangered species from extinction. As you are led by your knowledgeable guides, you’ll visit our free-range Tasmanian devil enclosure. Meet some of our resident population of Tasmanian devils and observe them as they feed and interact. You’ll hear the story of the Tasmanian devil, experience their characteristics, and learn how we can contribute to the survival of this Tassie icon.
Wineglass Lookout Walk
Join one of our informative guides on a walk to the lookout over internationally recognised Wineglass Bay. Learn about the peninsula’s rich history and behold the famous white sandy beach on this two-hour walking adventure. The trip also offers an up-close opportunity to learn about the diverse flora and fauna within this magical part of Tasmania.
Freycinet Bays and Capes Walk
Join one of our knowledgeable guides for a relaxed two-hour tour which combines two of the popular shorter walks of the Freycinet Peninsula – Cape Tourville and Sleepy Bay. Cape Tourville Lighthouse affords stunning views of the Tasman Sea as well as glimpses of Wineglass Bay. During this easy stroll you will learn about the abundant sea life below as well as the plant communities found within the national park. Journey onto Sleepy Bay where you will descend gently graded steps to the rocky shoreline while learning about the geology and how the Hazards Mountain range was formed.
Connection to Country
Take a coastal stroll along the beach with our indigenous guide Mick Quilliam. Discover the history of the Oyster Bay people, taking in the beauty of the coastal tracks and rock platforms and the wonders of the fauna and flora right on our doorstep. Perfectly Paired at Craigie Knowe Vineyard
Visit the oldest vineyard on the east coast. Experience the passion behind Craigie Knowe’s quality handcrafted wines and meet the maker Glenn to enjoy a personalised tour through the vineyard. Whilst touring the vineyard you will learn about the cultivation and production process. Guests will then have the opportunity to relax in the original homestead overlooking the vineyard, enjoy a matched wine, cheese and chocolate pairing.

Stand Up Paddle Boards
Stand Up Paddle Boards are available to use at your leisure in the sheltered waters off Muirs Beach. This self-guided experience is suitable for beginner’s to experienced Stand Up Paddle Board users. Enjoy the view of Great Oyster Bay and the Hazards mountain range while paddling along the beach directly in front of Saffire Freycinet.
Kayaking
Paddle in the calm and tranquil waters of Muirs Beach wetland, located directly in front of Saffire Freycinet. Sit-on-top kayaks are available to paddle at your leisure behind the windswept sand dunes amongst coastal bushland.
Fishing
Go fishing off the rocky shoreline in front of Saffire. Flathead, Bream, calamari squid and Australian salmon can be caught in Great Oyster Bay. Fly a lure or bait a line whilst enjoying the ever changing light on the Hazards.
Jogging
For joggers and walkers, choose between bushland or beach for your daily dose of endorphins. We’ll point you in the right direction!
Beach Games
Enjoy the sunshine and test your competitive skills on beautiful Muirs Beach, located directly in front of Saffire. We offer a large range of activities including volleyball, beach cricket, kite flying, sand castle building, bocce, quoits and ultimate frisbee.
Golfing
If golf is your sport, Saffire Freycinet is blessed with several picturesque and challenging and enjoyable nine-hole courses within 35 minutes’ drive. Saffire will happily provide golf clubs and bags and even assist with transport on request.
Kite Flying
Release your inner child or keep your young ones entertained with a range of kites to suit everyone. The sight of soaring, colourful kites fluttering in the sky with the Hazards as a backdrop is a joyous experience.
Biking
Mountain biking offers an opportunity to observe Freycinet’s natural assets at close quarters. We’ll equip you with a bike, plus all the accessories you’ll need for a comfortable and memorable self-guided adventure.
Stand Up Paddle Boards

Fly Fishing
One of Tasmania’s great wilderness properties, located 1.5 hours from Saffire, Currawong Lakes, provides its guests with a premium, guided dry fly-fishing experience. The property boasts exceptional hatches of aquatic and terrestrial insect life. Dry fly fishing is available on most days at a location on one of three lakes, whatever the wind direction or weather conditions. Of particular note are the hatches of Red Spinners which start regularly in late October and continue on until the end of the Tasmanian trout season in late March. While this particular spot is known by keen anglers worldwide, this is a unique opportunity to learn how to fly fish in a fun and safe environment. Additional charges apply.
